Parklea Branching Out is a voluntary sector organisation based in Port Glasgow offering training and skills development opportunities within a horticultural environment to individuals and groups with learning disabilities, mental health issues and young people with a disadvantaged background.
The organisation is undergoing expansion and is looking for a Grounds Maintenance Operative/Gardener.

Salary £18,500 – £19,500 Full Time Position initially for 2 Years
We require an experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative/Gardener capable of delivering our contract maintenance work. Experience and understanding of grass cutting equipment and other maintenance equipment, blowers, hedge trimmers and strimmers are essential as well as basic knowledge of shrub and tree maintenance requirements. You will also be required to lead small teams of employees consisting of young trainees, people with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties and volunteers. As part of the Parklea team you will have responsibility to maintain, develop and expand our own gardens, develop and maintain contract work off site and contribute to the dissemination of information to the general public, teachers, school children and other relevant groups who use the site as an educational venue.
A full driving licence is essential for this post.

Growing Boxes Project Officer, Urban Routes, Glasgow
Hours: 16 per week flexible
Wage: £8 per hour equivalent to £1600 over 12.5 weeks. Paid on receipt of invoice. Eg self employed/freelance worker.
The Project Officer will identify and engage with 5 different groups from across the South East - ideally with a broad geographical spread and different ‘types’ of groups. Once identified, the Project Officer will work with the groups to design a food growing area using a raised bed system, to build and create the raised beds and to teach the group basic food growing and gardening skills.
The Project Officer will need to have proven experience of working with community and voluntary groups along with knowledge of food growing, gardening and garden design. IT skills are also necessary, and a driving license is highly beneficial.

Growing Communities in Scotland Fieldworkers

Glasgow Fieldworker Position
Ongoing Freelance work, £125 per day, based on a 7.5-hour day (pay review pending)
We are looking to recruit a Glasgow based freelance fieldworker to help deliver ‘Growing Communities in Scotland’, a Big Lottery-funded partnership between Trellis, the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens, and the Allotments Regeneration Initiative.
The Post-holder will work for both the FCFCG and Trellis, under the partnership’s Fieldwork Co-ordinator- Vicki Ferguson and be part of the team providing advice and support to community and therapeutic gardening projects across Scotland, and organising regional gatherings and training events.
We currently have 7 fieldworkers, who have a range of skills to reflect the different aspects of support that may be required but are looking for one more to support community and therapeutic gardens within Glasgow and the West of Scotland. We will prioritise applications from people who have experience working on city farms, community gardens or therapeutic gardens.
