As the summer seems a distant memory and we’re halfway through Autumn already, I wanted to update you on the various activities that Trellis have been working on the last couple of months. As ever, we are proud to be supporting over 500 projects across Scotland, providing health and well-being through horticulture.

CASE STUDY - Birkhill Dye Garden

From Shetland to South-West Scotland, Trellis is supporting over 500 gardens projects – helping those in need, through horticulture.

Our projects promote health through horticulture - because people grow better in gardens.

One such project is the Birkhill House Dye Garden.

Birkhill is a community interest company running crafting sessions for a variety of community groups and animal assisted therapy including work with alpacas.

They use the alpaca fibres in their crafting and wanted to start growing dyes to colour the alpaca and other fibres.

Our fieldworker Emma met the owner of Birkhill, Lara at a conference on climate change, which led to a meeting to discuss how Trellis could help.

TRELLIS IMPACT REPORT

Our Impact report is a combination of the hard statistics and softer outcomes of our work. Compiling these results allows us to share what we do and encourages us to stop and reflect on the difference our work makes. It’s clear this work supports national priorities: that people might live healthier lives; for children and young people to have good health and wellbeing; to reduce inequalities; to improve our food culture and enhance the environments and communities in which we live.
