Providing a sustainable and empowering approach for staff across many service areas. The session is practical in nature and although there is an element of understanding autism as a condition, we know that many of you are keen to learn to put this into practice. The training focusses on the most recent research on autism, our current thinking, understanding and approach of best practice and to ensure a strengths based approach.
Experiences in Autism & Gardening (13:00 - 15:00)
Green Routes, Gargunnock
Gillian and her team have generously opened the doors of Green Routes, Gargunnock to share their experiences and good practice with us. There will be lunch and a Garden Tour with the student gardeners and staff. This is an opportunity to meet the young people supported by Green Routes, many with varying degrees of autism, and gain an understanding of their experiences of gardening at the project - what they enjoy, dislike and achieve, and how staff and student gardeners work together to gain skills and confidence, as well as create a productive garden.
In order to join us at Green Routes, you must Register for the Autism Awareness session (see above).
