World Therapeutic Horticulture Day 2026

World Therapeutic Horticulture Day (WTHD) returns on 18 May 2026, inviting people across the globe to celebrate the life‑changing power of gardening for health and wellbeing. Founded by Trellis in 2023, this annual day has quickly become a vibrant international movement — uniting practitioners, gardeners, organisations, and anyone who has ever felt the benefit of Therapeutic Horticulture.

Whether you’re deeply rooted in the field or just beginning to explore therapeutic horticulture, you’re warmly welcomed to join in.

Why WTHD matters

Therapeutic horticulture is so much more than gardening. It’s connection, purpose, community, and care — a practice that supports mental, physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. WTHD shines a light on the people who deliver this work, the communities who benefit, and the growing global recognition of the profession. Countries already taking part include the UK, United States, France, Italy, India, Nigeria, Sweden, the Dominican Republic, Croatia — and the list keeps growing.

How to get involved

Taking part is wonderfully simple:

  • Download free WTHD resources — logos, social posts, info sheets, and more
  • Post on social media using #WTHD and Share your story — a moment in nature, a favourite garden space, an activity in action. Remember to tag us!
  • Spread the word in your community, workplace, or organisation
  • Join the global map by adding your country or project to the participation form

Every post, story, and shared experience helps build momentum and recognition for therapeutic horticulture worldwide.
