Trellis Floral Clock 2026

We are delighted to have been chosen as the organisation to be celebrated in the City of Edinburgh Council Floral Clock Display this year. As we reach our 20th anniversary, this awe-inspiring spectacle makes a fitting and unforgettable tribute to Trellis and the vital work to make excellent therapeutic horticulture and its benefits, accessible to all. The floral clock, which is a stunning piece of horticultural and engineering work, goes on display from June to late September (weather permitting) in Princes Street Gardens in the centre of Edinburgh.

The Floral Clock celebrates the power of gardens to bring people together and support wellbeing. If you’d like to help Trellis continue this work, you can make a one‑off donation or become a monthly supporter. Every gift helps something good grow.

Gardening Changes Lives

Every week across Scotland, we help over 15,000 people improve their health and wellbeing through therapeutic gardening.

Trellis helps practitioners grow their skills and supports people recovering from depression, stroke, living with chronic pain and long-term conditions such as cancer and dementia, children with additional support needs and older people struggling with isolation.

Help people grow, recover and connect.

This summer, something special is blooming in Edinburgh. To mark our 20th anniversary, Trellis is featured on the historic Floral Clock — a tradition dating back to 1903 and still planted by hand, piece by tiny piece.

Clock hands, numbers and the entire surrounding display comprise growing, photosynthesising life. In 1973, an electric motor was installed to keep the clock hands moving. Before then the clock's mechanism had to be wound daily.

With tens of thousands of small, colourful plants, the clock takes gardeners working on ladders many weeks to plant, and is trimmed, weeded and watered throughout the season.

It’s a celebration of craft, care and the power of plants to bring people together. Our heartfelt thanks to the brilliant team Edinburgh Council who make this magic happen every year.

In flower July–September — come see it in person.
