Job description

The Students’ Association of the University of the West of Scotland (SAUWS) is a dynamic and vibrant organisation which exists to ensure the continuous improvement of our students’ experience.

We are looking for motivated, goal achieving staff who enjoy the challenge of making a difference to our students’ lives. We expect you to be WISE:

• Welcoming – a friendly approach in person and online

• Inclusive – enabling opportunities for all

• Supportive – supporting each other appropriately

• Engaging – communicating, listening and responding.

You should enjoy working in a fast changing environment and be able to work under your own direction as part of a diverse team. Knowledge or experience of working within a 3rd sector organisation is advantageous.

The Carbon Reduction Coordinator will be responsible for the Engage, Embed and Empower (E3) project which is funded by the Climate Challenge Fund. The project is centred on Sustainability Hubs in the Ayr and Paisley Campuses of the UWS. These hubs will be focal points for increased carbon literacy, action on climate change and supporting our circular economy through the free tool hire service and free shops. They will also offer repair and upcycling workshops which are aimed at upskilling our community, empowering them to keep goods in use for as long as possible. The ultimate goal of all of our projects is to ensure the continued reduction of CO2 emissions within our community.
