Job Description:

Cyrenians has worked with NHS Lothian to establish two hospital community gardens: one in Morningside, Edinburgh and one in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian.

Each garden was developed to offer hospital patients, staff and visitors, as well as people and groups from the local community, the chance to take part in a range of gardening and nature-based activities.

The purpose of the Patient Engagement role is to deliver opportunities that allow the hospital patients to benefit from the therapeutic aspects of gardening, wildlife and the outdoors.  This encompasses a broad spectrum of nature-based and gardening activities focusing on wellbeing. Activities are also designed to support the treatment and recovery of those attending. Working primarily on wards and in our community gardens we support patients who have a variety of physical and mental health support needs, dementia and learning disabilities.

You should have experience of working with vulnerable people, a creative approach, and the ability to demonstrate our values of compassion, respect, integrity and innovation in the work that you do.

Organisation Profile:
Cyrenians is a charity working towards a society that truly values and includes all. Our Vision is of an inclusive society in which we all have the opportunities to live valued and fulfilled lives.
