Are you a Senior Gardener with excellent horticultural experience and experience in community based or therapeutic horticulture?
Beannachar Camphill Community is Located on a beautiful estate only two miles from Aberdeen city, it provides a therapeutic and supportive space that transforms the lives of young adults with additional support and complex needs.
We are looking for a highly experienced gardener with the ability to take forward an inclusive vision for the 1 acre walled garden and an imaginative approach to involving young adults with a range of abilities and disabilities. The garden ‘team’ will include Beannachar ‘students’ and their support workers who will accompany and work alongside them, as well as volunteers. Central to the role will be a passion for community gardening and developing organic and sustainable gardening practices.
A Garden Workshop Leader is needed to maintain the walled garden to high standards throughout the year and to help and design the garden for the future. The one acre walled garden comprises vegetable growing beds, polytunnels, glass house, and fruit trees, herb garden and areas of herbaceous boarders and lawns. The garden has been tended for over 40 years using bio-dynamic and organic principles. Garden produce is mostly consumed by the Beannachar community, and there is potential to develop garden related social enterprises.
You will part of the Day Service team, communicating and working with other workshop leaders running numerous crafts workshops, our small farm (11 acres), estate and woodland areas in providing opportunities for work and learning.

You should have experience of working with vulnerable people, a creative approach, and the ability to demonstrate our values developing healthy social relationships based on mutual learning, care and respect while celebrating the uniqueness and authenticity of each human being.

Essential skills and qualities
- Horticulture related qualification and/or a minimum of 3 years consistent horticultural experience relative to the post.
- Experience in using practical knowledge/experience of horticulture to support vulnerable people.
- Commitment to organic or biodynamic gardening and sustainable practice
