Trellis Announces Brian Cunningham as Patron
Wednesday, 4 September, 2024 - 11:15 to Monday, 1 September, 2025 - 11:15
Trellis, the leading therapeutic horticulture charity, is delighted to announce that Brian Cunningham has become its new Patron. Brian, who is Head Gardener at Scone Palace as well as being a presenter on BBC’s Beechgrove Garden and newspaper columnist, will support the charity's mission to harness the healing power of horticulture to help people facing physical and mental challenges and disadvantage to improve their health and wellbeing.
As Patron, Brian will play a vital role in raising awareness of the transformative impact of therapeutic horticulture. Trellis is the therapeutic gardening charity that supports over 500 groups who create green sanctuaries in hospitals, care homes, schools, prisons and community spaces. These gardens each help over 14,00 people each week to recover from ill health, overcome adversity, and increase their skills and confidence.
Brian expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating: “I am honoured to join Trellis as Patron. I have always believed in the profound impact that nature can have on our health and happiness, and I am excited to support this wonderful charity in its mission to bring the joys and benefits of gardening to those who need it most.” Hear Brian talk about his role of Patron.
Trellis was founded in 2006 and has since helped and supported thousands of people and communities throughout Scotland. The charity’s efforts have been recognised for their positive impact on people’s mental and physical health, and the addition of Brian as Patron marks an exciting new chapter.
“We are thrilled to welcome Brian as our Patron,” said Fiona Thackeray, Chief Executive of Trellis. “His passion for nature and commitment to well-being align perfectly with our aims. With his support, we look forward to expanding our network and reaching even more people who can benefit from therapeutic horticulture.”
Brian will be officially introduced as Patron when he welcomes some of Trellis’ existing patrons to an informal garden tour at Scone Palace early next month.
