Blooming Gardeners S.C.I.O., Barbaraville and Alness, Ross-shire
Blooming Gardeners S.C.I.O. is a thriving therapeutic gardening project in Easter Ross which promotes the health and well-being of its clients (gardeners) through involvement in horticulture. The gardeners have a range of learning disabilities and neurodivergent conditions.
The Horticultural Trainers are key to the success of the project, creating a happy, secure environment for the gardeners and volunteers, while guiding and supporting them in plant production, garden maintenance, soft landscaping and fruit and vegetable growing. They make use of eco-friendly practices and encourage the gardeners to understand and care for the environment.
The horticultural trainers also engage with the trustees in strategic planning and development and in ensuring Blooming Gardeners meets its aims and obligations.
