Tumbling tomatoes are less tricky to grow compared to the upright cordon varieties. To keep them tumbling over the side of the basket/tall pot to keep them as accessible as possible, nip out the growing tip once it’s around 25-30cm tall – this will encourage it to make more arching stems – within reach.

Pop the plant and its pot into the container, and infill the compost in and around this pot, remove pot and plant, pop plant’s rootball back into the perfectly fitting place.

Tomatoes come in a variety of colours including yellow, pink, purple, black, brown, orange and white, not just the red varieties. Seek out some heritage and unusual varieties to try!
