Alan will tell us about Murrayburn & Hailesland Neighbourhood Garden, Edinburgh - how it came into being and what takes place around the garden. Edible Estates are about growing fruit and vegetables but in turn use this as a vehicle to create a “place”, build community, resilience and cohesion and use the gardens as a springboard to think about what other changes people would like to see.
Alan will explain the future of the area around the garden: the community asset transfer of vacant land beside the garden where a new community hub is envisaged, and a community self-build playground, which includes children’s natural play sessions as well as exploring options for an outdoor nursery.
