After taking a leap of faith into a new career path, I recently earned an HNC in Horticulture with distinction from Perth UHI, leaving behind my background in jewellery design and tutoring. My passion for gardening was born during the pandemic when I secured an allotment in Perth as well as a small and empty garden space, having not long relocated to a new property. These two spaces became a sanctuary during those uncertain times, offering me peace, a way to stay active, and the opportunity to enjoy fresh, homegrown food. The benefits I experienced from gardening, both physical and mental, quickly turned this hobby into something much more profound.
In a previous role as an activities coordinator for a local charity, I had the chance to work with Trellis, helping to coordinate volunteers to lead therapeutic gardening sessions for local seniors. These experiences reinforced my belief in the healing power of horticulture, and solidified my decision to pursue it professionally. I am thrilled to now be joining as a fieldworker, alongside my new role as a self-employed full-time gardener, where I look forward to sharing my love of organic gardening and its transformative benefits with others.
